A changing world presents both risk and opportunity. My investment approach and the philosophy of Bluemound Asset Management is to manage risk first while investing in opportunities.

"Confronted with a challenge to distill the secret of sound investment into three words, we venture the motto, MARGIN OF SAFETY."

Benjamin Graham (Warren Buffett's teacher and mentor)

While many opportunities are cyclical repeats of the past, many opportunities are found within the evolution of the global economy. Thus, by analyzing history, as well as, secular trends, we can better find opportunities while mitigating risk. I use an investment process, borrowed from several highly successful investment houses, that uses 4-steps to find our investment opportunities:

  • Identifies secular economic trends.
  • Analyzes government and central bank policy.
  • Does deep dive fundamental analysis of industries and companies.
  • Employs technical analysis of price trends to guide buying and selling.

Bluemound offers 5 core equity based portfolio strategies that can be adjusted to your individual needs. These investment strategies can stand alone or be paired with bond or alternative strategies to create the ideal asset allocation strategy for your situation.

  • Global Trends ETF - a tactical asset allocation strategy using low cost Exchange Traded Funds to generate growth. This strategy can be adapted to virtually any set of goals and circumstances. This strategy accepts equal risk to the broad market, but is trying to beat broad stock market returns through asset allocation. This strategy comes in two management programs:
    • You can have me manage directly, in which case, you'll need to move your assets to Interactive Brokers where I manage money with a management fee of .75% annually in addition to a $1600 first year financial, retirement and investment plan fee.
    • Or, you can keep your funds at any brokerage, i.e. Fidelity, Schwab, etc... and enter the trades as I email them to you based on an annual subscription fee of only $800. In addition, your first year will include a financial, retirement and investment plan fee of $1600.
  • Retirement Trends ETF - a slow handed tactical asset allocation strategy using low cost Exchange Traded Funds and other fund based investments to generate income and growth. Primarily for retirees and near retirees. This strategy seeks slightly lower risk than the overall stock market, but is trying to roughly match stock market returns through asset allocation. This strategy comes in two management programs:

  • Sustainable Growth - A long-term growth strategy focused on innovative stocks at the intersection of the sustainable "smart everything" world. Uses a tactical ETF asset allocation for the core of a diversified approach. Ideal for long-term growth investors or retired investors who want a sleeve of growth stocks. This strategy accepts equal risk to the broad market, but is trying to beat broad stock market returns through asset allocation.
    • Money is managed at Interactive Brokers with a management fee of 1% annually in addition to a $1600 first year financial, retirement and investment plan fee.
  • Dividend Collector - A long-term dividend income and growth strategy. Primarily for retirees and near retirees. Uses a tactical ETF asset allocation for the core of a diversified approach. This strategy seeks slightly lower risk than the overall stock market, but is trying to roughly match stock market returns through asset allocation, stock selection and dividends.
    • Money is managed at Interactive Brokers with a management fee of 1% annually in addition to a $1600 first year financial, retirement and investment plan fee.
  • Retirement Income Options - For those with an understanding of option selling strategies. An equity portfolio that sells cash-secured puts and covered calls to generate additional portfolio income while allowing for equity growth. This strategy seeks lower risk than the overall stock market, but is trying to roughly match stock market returns through asset allocation, security selection, dividends and option premium. We anticipate this strategy will outperform Dividend Collector, however will likely be more volatile. Asset allocation parameters will be set on a per client basis. $500,000 minimum account size and $1m net worth requirements.
    • Money is managed at Interactive Brokers with a management fee of 1% annually in addition to a $1600 first year financial, retirement and investment plan fee.
